Resilience, Recovery, and the Rise of a New Star Round 2 of the Monochrome GT4 Australia series at The Bend was a true test of grit for the Multispares Racing crew. After a monumental effort to repair the #227 Mustang following its heavy crash, the team faced an uphill battle from the first green flag.
The GT4 Mustangs:
A Weekend of Two Halves Despite the #227 being “back to brand new,” a minor but costly fuel pressure connector issue—likely damaged during the rapid rebuild—limited its practice running. While rival teams utilized previous testing data, our crew was learning on the fly.
• #27(Aaron Cameron & Lochie Dalton): Showed immense pace, qualifying P2 overall (P1 in Silver) in a treacherous wet Q1. After a strategic gamble on slicks in Q2 saw Lochie finish P7, a mistimed pit exit in Race 1 unfortunately dropped them to 15th.
• #227 (Cameron McLeod & Mason Harvey): Started from the back in Race 1 to finish 13th, but found their rhythm on Sunday. The Sunday Charge: Race 2 was a masterclass in overtaking. Despite a safety car timing mishap that shuffled the field, both cars stormed through the pack:
• #27 fought from 24th all the way back to 5th (2nd in Silver Class).
• #227 mirrored the charge, securing 3rd in Silver Class. Result: A fantastic double-podium for Multispares Racing in the Silver Class to salvage the weekend! Mustang Cup: Josh Anderson Means Business The standout story of the weekend was our “young gun,” Josh Anderson. Sporting the Multispares, Bushranger, and Victa colours, Josh dominated the inaugural rounds of the Global Mustang Cup series.
• Practice: P2 and P1.
• Qualifying: P4 and P2.
• The Races: Josh took out both race wins in two absolute thrillers against veteran Jack Perkins.
Josh Anderson: The “Mustang Cup” Masterclass
Josh’s performance against a veteran like Jack Perkins shouldn’t be understated. Beating a Bathurst winner in two “thrillers” shows he has the race craft to match his raw pace.
• Leading the Championship: Heading into QR as the points leader puts a target on his back, but his momentum is massive.
• The Prize: That Triple 8 test is the ultimate “carrot.” It’s fantastic to see Multispares providing the platform for the next generation of Aussie talent to bridge the gap from one-make racing to GT4. With a Triple 8 test and a potential GT4 seat on the line, Josh now leads the championship and has firmly established himself as the man to beat.
