Many late-generation axles use Insert Units, an evolution of the standard tapered roller bearing that includes inboard and outboard bearings. FAG has taken this technology a step further by developing the Repair Insert Unit (RIU). Pre-assembled, pre-lubricated, pre-sealed, and ready to install, RIUs fit a wide range of commercial vehicle hubs, are easier to mount, and extend the operating life to around 1,000,000 km. These RIUs offer similar advantages to hub assemblies or Truck Axle Modules, but at a fraction of the cost.
