Multispares Racing Newsletter: Phillip Island Recap & The Bend Preview It was a weekend of high drama, blistering pace, and a “bittersweet” victory as the Monochrome GT4 Australia Series kicked off at the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. Our Multispares Racing Ford Mustangs proved they are the cars to beat this season, showing incredible pace across the board.
GT4 Round 1:
Highs and Lows at Phillip Island The opening race of the season was a masterclass in Mustang dominance. From the green light, our two entries — the #27 (Aaron Cameron & Lochie Dalton) and the #227 (Mason Harvey & Cameron McLeod) — controlled the field.
• The Race 1 Victory: In a dramatic turn of events, the #227 car dominated the hour-long race, crossing the line first. However, a 10-second post-race penalty for a safety car restart infringement saw them relegated to second place. This handed the official victory to their teammates in the #27 Multispares Mustang, securing a massive 1-2 finish for the team
• Race 2 Challenges: While Sunday’s Race 2 was a tougher battle against a resurgent McLaren, the team banked crucial points to keep us at the sharp end of the championship standings.
GT4 Round 2:
Heading to Tailem Bend There’s no time to rest as we prepare for Round 2 at the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park (The Bend) in South Australia, taking place from May 8–10. Both Saturday and Sunday’s sessions will be covered live on Fox Sports and Kayo.
Touring Car Masters: The Torana Finds New Life for Tasmania Following a challenging opening round at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMP) where the tighter layout didn’t suit our setup, the
team has been working around the clock on the Multispares A9X Torana. With a two-week gap before Round 2 at Symmons Plains, Tasmania, we’ve taken the opportunity to give the “Beast” a significant heart transplant:
• The 16-Month Wait is Over: We have finally received and installed a brand-new crankshaft from Callies Cranks in the USA. Our previous unit had clocked over 11,000km, and because these are custom-built in batches, we’ve been waiting nearly a year and a half for this replacement.
• Dyno-Tuned Performance: With the engine out, the team installed a new inlet manifold and spent quality time on the dyno. The result? A fresh tune and some extra horsepower found that should make a world of difference on the long straights of Symmons Plains.
• Ryan’s Outlook: Bolstered by solid previous setup data from the Tasmanian circuit and the extra grunt under the hood, Ryan Hansford is heading south with a high level of confidence for a podium-fighting weekend.
