Race Report of GT4 Debut! – Multispares Racing

The first half of the 2025 season has delivered some fantastic results for Multispares Racing.

A major highlight this season was the highly anticipated debut of our brand new 2025 GT4 Mustang at Round 3 of the Australian Monochrome GT4 Championship at Queensland Raceway! Built in Canada by Multimatic Motorsport, who have an impressive track record with over 200 Mustangs for the global GT4 category, the car arrived in early May.

This kicked off a busy few weeks for the team, meticulously preparing the Mustang to be “race ready.” With testing restricted prior to each round, the crew managed a vital 1-hour shakedown at Lakeside Raceway to ensure all systems were working flawlessly. The Queensland Raceway round (May 30 – June 1) began with challenging conditions.

Friday’s two practice sessions saw drivers Aaron Cameron and Ryan Hansford navigating a very wet track, finishing in 19th and 23rd respectively.

With no prior testing on the Mustang and the difficult wet conditions, the team found it tough to make significant setup changes.

In qualifying both drivers made huge gains, with Aaron qualifying 7th, just .2 of a second from pole position, while Ryan was 10th in the driver B qualifying. Together they were first in the Silver/Am qualifying.

However, the debut race, with Ryan Hansford and Aaron Cameron behind the wheel, was a dramatic one. In incredibly challenging, rain- affected conditions, the team showed immense pace, with Aaron Cameron recovering from an early spin to take the lead, and Ryan Hansford maintaining it after the driver change.

While a post-race penalty for a pit exit infringement under Safety Car conditions ultimately saw us classified P8, and a significant late-race impact for Ryan Hansford, the raw speed of the new Mustang was undeniable. Thankfully, Ryan walked away unscathed, and the car, though damaged, is confirmed to be repairable. The team is already working hard to get it ready for the next round!

Behind the Scenes: The Power of the Pit Crew & Mustang Prep! While the drivers are the heroes on the track, the success of Multispares Racing Team relies heavily on the unsung heroes of the pit crew. These dedicated individuals work tirelessly to ensure our machines are in peak condition, performing rapid- fire tire changes and crucial adjustments under immense pressure.

The arrival of the new GT4 Mustang was a testament to their dedication. In a matter of weeks, they transformed a brand-new car from Canada into a race-ready machine.

This involved everything from custom wiring and setup to applying the distinctive Multispares livery. Their late nights and hard work ensured we hit the ground running at Queensland Raceway.

Our pit crew undergoes intense training, focusing on precision, speed, and seamless communication. Every second counts, and their flawless execution can be the difference between a win and a loss.
