Darwin Debrief and Championship Update!
G’day everyone, What a cracker of a weekend it was for Multispares Racing up in Darwin! Round 3 of the 2025 Touring Car Masters series at Hidden Valley Raceway certainly delivered some exciting action for our driver, Ryan Hansford, and the whole team.
The Big Journey North
The adventure kicked off in style with our brand new race transporter making its maiden voyage! Our dedicated team members, Brett Peters and Phil Hain, expertly drove that beauty all the way from our North Lakes HQ in Brisbane up to the Top End. A huge effort from the lads, and a great new asset for Multispares Racing!
On-Track Action in the Sunshine
As you’d expect for June in Darwin, we were treated to blue skies and warm weather all weekend – perfect conditions for racing. Ryan showed some strong pace from the outset, recording 3rd in practice and backing it up with another 3rd in the 20-minute qualifying session on Friday. Great work! Friday afternoon’s reverse grid Trophy Race saw Ryan put in a strong performance. He carved his way through the pack, starting 3rd last on the grid and finishing an impressive 4th!
Highs and Lows on Saturday
Race 1 on Saturday saw Ryan come home in 4th place. While the bigger-engined cars certainly had the grunt down the long Hidden Valley straight, Ryan’s skill truly shone through. He managed to set the fastest lap of the race, only a few tenths off the lap record!
It just goes to show how well our nimble Torana handles in the corners, leading to some excellent dicing out on track. Unfortunately, Race 2 brought a bit of a tough break. While Ryan was battling for 3rd position with Jude Bargwanna, the pair encountered two lapped cars.
There was contact between Bargwanna’s Commodore and Ryan’s Torana, which sent Ryan spinning into the gravel trap. A DNF (Did Not Finish) for Race 2 meant no points, which was a disappointing setback for Ryan’s championship charge. However, Ryan, as always, showed some incredible determination in Race 3. Starting from the back of the grid, he drove a truly brilliant race, battling his way right through the field to finish in a strong 5th place!
Championship Update
After all the action in Darwin, Ryan now sits 4th in the championship points. While it was a challenging weekend with the DNF, Ryan’s speed and resilience were undeniable. We’re confident he’ll be back stronger than ever for the next round!
Next Stop: The Bend!
The team is already focused on Round 4, which heads to The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia from September 12th to 14th.
