Last weekend’s round win of the 400 Thunder Drag Racing series takes the Multispares Drag Racing team a step closer to grab the championship at the Winternationals finals in June! Frank and his team delivered a solid performance to take the round win and their first “Gold Tree” home and Frank’s mum was there for her first Drag Racing experience in 88 years! She brought with her some luck as the team was dealt what could have been a terrible blow in the first round of the elimination finals! Unbeknown to the team, the starting officials entered an incorrect “Dial in” (Nominated Time) of 8.03 instead of 8.30 giving their opponent a 0.27 second start line advantage. But Frank’s staging tactics at the tree resulted in the opposing mustang RED LIGHTING (leaving before the starting green light) giving the first-round win to the relieved Multispares team.
Our next round of the series is at Willowbank Raceway on Good Friday, 10th April, where we will secure the 10 points needed to reach the cap of 250 points heading into the June finals. There will be a few great and well-seasoned racers also on the cap to beat at the finals and we will now be the underdogs, but we will be there having a blast and winning would be the best bonus!
Thanks goes out to Frank Palumbo Drag Racing (FPDR) group , now lead by Franks son Ronnie, for their untiring commitment to the teams and the sport. Also, to our other great sponsors, Hi-Tec Oil, Fairfield Mobile Auto electricians, Precise Automatics, John & Paul at VP Racing Fuels, Fogmaker Fire Protection Systems, Interline Bus and Southern Cross Transit.
See you all on Good Friday and Willowbank Raceway! BE THERE!!!!!
